Around 5.64 million people live in the Land of 10,000 lakes yet there are relatively few adult stores where you can pick up XXX personal items.
In total, you’ll find less than 30 sex shops in Minnesota but there are a few dozen more outlets where you might be able to get some basics.
This came as a bit of a surprise to use when we were compiling this list.
When you check data obtained by Google, it would appear that residents in this part of America are pretty open-minded. Recent online sales data suggests that the bestselling kind of sex toy in Minnesota is bondage gear.
And this is backed up by sales reports from the internet adult store, Kink who report leather hardware as the most popular kind of toy sold in the state. Perhaps the lack of adult stores in the Gopher State means more people have to buy online?

You can find adult stores in just 11 of Minnesota’s 87 counties and most of these are located in the southeast corner of the state, close to Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Becker County
Located on the western side of Minnesota, Becker County is a large but sparsely populated part of the state. With a population of just 35,000 people in a space a little under the size of Rhode Island, there is just a single adult store serving the community here.
It’s only open 10.00-17.30 from Monday to Friday and only really stocks the basics.
For your closest alternatives you are looking at a trip over to North Dakota or heading deeper into the state to Crow Wing County (see below).

Blue Earth County
Located in the south of Minnesota, Blue Earth County has a population of almost 70,000 people.
Like much of the rest of the state, there are very few places where you can pick up adult toys and accessories here but the county seat of Mankato does have one option.
An outlet of the national chain store, Spencer’s, you can pick up novelties and basic items as well as collect online orders in-store.

Hennepin County
Home to the state’s largest city, Minneapolis, Hennepin is the busiest part of Minnesota.
It has a population of over 1.2 million people and is where you can find over a quarter of the state’s adult stores.
In total, there are more than a dozen shops where you can browse for your novelties, lingerie, sex toys and XXX books and videos.
Most are located in Minneapolis and these include a specialist kink store, Bondesque as well as several independent adult shops.

St. Louis County
Situated in the northeast of Minnesota and nestled on the border with Ontario, Canada, St. Louis County is the largest (by area).
Home to the port city of Duluth, with a shoreline to Lake Superior and sharing a small state border with Wisconsin, it’s home to a population of more than 200,000.

Situated in the south of the state, Steele County is home to a small population of just 38,000 people.
There is, however, one good adult store here which mainly serves passing trade.
An outlet of Lion’s Den and located just outside the county seat of Owatonna, you should be able to pick up most items from here.
You do have a couple of alternatives close by with Blue Earth County to the west and Olmstead County to the east.
