The Motor City is the largest urban area in Michigan and is also the only American city which is actually located north of the border with Canada!

Alpena County has just a single city (aptly called Alpena) and it is here you can find the only adult store in this part of Michigan.

Bay County

Situated on the shores of Lake Huron, Bay County is one of the eastern counties of Michigan.

It has a fair size population of around 105,000 people but these numbers can soar during the tourism season. Which is why it’s a surprise that you can only really find the one adult store in these parts.

Berrien County

Situated on the southwestern border of Michigan with plenty of shoreline on Lake Michigan itself, Berrien County has a fair size population of around 155,000 people.

Located in the community of Sawyer, about 15 miles south of the county seat of St Joseph, is a Lion’s Den.

Branch County

Located on the central southern border with Indiana, Branch County is a traditional New England style part of Michigan and is sparsely populated with around 45,000 residents.

As a result, you only get a single choice of adult store here and this can be found in the county seat of Coldwater.

Delta County

Situated in that odd upper peninsula of Michigan that actually connects to Wisconsin, Delta County is so-called, not because of its rivers but, because it looks like the Greek letter ‘delta’.

It’s a small part of the state and only has a population of around 37,000 people, most of whom live in and around the county seat of Escanaba.

The city is the third largest in this part of Michigan and the only place in this region where you can find an adult store.

It’s a small enough independent boutique which mainly sells novelty items and the very basic of bedroom gear but can throw up some interesting surprises.

Emmet County

Located on the northern edge of Michigan’s lower peninsula and bounded by the Straits of Mackinac and Lake Michigan itself, Emmet County has a small population of around 34,000 people.

The county seat of Petoskey is the only place where you can go shopping for adult toys but the Xpectations store on Highway 131 has a pretty decent selection.

Genesee County

The fifth most populous county in Michigan, more than 400,000 people call Genosee County home.

It’s situated in the central east portion of the state and is really served with adult stores. Most of these can be found in the county seat of Flint, a city that acts as the commercial hub for Genesee County.

Grand Traverse County

Located in on the shores of Lake Michigan in the north-eastern corner of the lower peninsula, Grand Traverse County has a population of just under 100,000 people.

Houghton County

One of the northernmost parts of Michigan, way up in the upper peninsula and sat on the shores of Lake Superior, Houghton County is a small community.

There are only around 38,000 people living in in its towns and cities with just a single adult store between them.

Ingham County

Home to Michigan State University, Ingham County is a sizable one with almost 300,000 residents.

One of the most central parts of Michigan, Isabella County has a small population of around 65,000 people.

Lenawee County

Situated in the far southeast corner of Michigan on the shores of Lake Erie and bordering Ohio, Lenawee County is nestled just below Detroit.

So, whilst you can only find a couple of adult stores in the county seat of Adrian, it’s not far to go to hit Motor City for more sex shops.

Marquette County

Though the largest county in Michigan by land size, Marquett County on the northern peninsula is home to around just 66,000 people. This does make it the most populous part of this remote area of Michigan.

It’s not a big outlet but it does stock a great selection of products so you should be able to pick up the basics along with some surprisingly niche items.

Mecosta County

With a population of less than 40,000 residents, Mecosta County isn’t a big community and there isn’t a huge demand for adult stores.

You can find a decent enough shop in Big Rapids which stocks a range of novelty items along with some bedroom basics and a good choice of accessories.

In this part of Michigan you’re pretty limited for choice and your best adult shopping opportunities in the nearby area include Isabella County to the east or Kent County to the south (see above).

Midland County

Located in the heart of Michigan’s lower peninsula, Midland County has just a couple of options when it comes to buying sex toys, lingerie and adult DVDs.

The county seat of Midland has a Spencer’s store which can usually offer up some novelty items and basic toys.

But you’ll need to head to Sanford for a wider selection of items. After Dark Fantasies is a small, independent boutique but they do have some lingerie and more specialist toys.

With Bay County to the east, Saginaw County to the southeast and Isabella County to the west there are other places you can go to look for adult toys in this part of the state.

Monroe County

The most south-easterly county in Michigan on the border with Ohio and on the shores of Lake Erie, Monroe County is another satellite area of Detroit.

As a result, there’s just one option when it comes to adult novelties here and that’s in the county seat of Monroe itself.

Whilst Spencer’s might not give you  the best selection of adult items, you can head into Wayne County (see below) to hit up a huge range of sex shops.

Lenawee County (see above) to the west and Washtenaw County (see below) to the north also have some alternative options.

Muskegon County

Located on the eastern shores of Lake Michigan in the west of the state, Muskegon County is a pretty popular destination for tourists.

There are, however, just two places that visitors (and locals) can pick up their bedroom basics.

In the county seat of Muskegon this is limited to a Spencer’s novelty store but over in Norton Shores you can hit up a branch of Cirilla’s which does offer a nice selection of sex toys, lingerie and more.

Oakland County

A part of the metropolitan area of Detroit, Oakland County is the second largest in Michigan and, along with Wayne County (see below) it is here where you can find the majority of the state’s adult stores.

The 1.2 million residents and myriad visitors to Oakland County are spoiled for choice with a selection of more than 17 sex shops to choose from.

Otsego County

Located in the northern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan and with a population of just 25,000 people, Otsego County is one of the smallest in the state.

Saginaw County

Situated in the central east portion of the lower peninsula of Michigan, Saginaw County has a healthy population of around 190,00 people.

Wayne County

(Almost) last but by no means least we have Wayne County.

Situated in the south-eastern corner of Michigan and nestle on the shores of Lake Erie, Wayne County is home to over 1.7 million people making it the most populous part of the state.
